ABOUT THE TOUR
Tacos seem to be on everyone's mind these days. What we tend to know around the world has nothing to do with the reality that exists in Mexico. Yet, it seems to be a favorite food for many. How did such a simple food become a global phenomenon? When did it start?
San Diego is known to have arguably the best Mexican cuisine in the US. While that may be true, it really doesn't compare to what you can get in Mexico. Luckily, Tijuana is closer than Disneyland! The hard part about crossing the border for a culinary experience is knowing where to go. Let us guide you through the labyrinth of taco eateries to what we believe are the Top Five of the famous border town. Deemed by who? We didn't find these by researching American articles written by gringos. We asked the locals where they like to eat. We narrowed it down to the most mentioned, tried them, compared, and created our tour. Each taqueria makes various types, but each have what they make best. We will take you to a different taqueria for:
And because we are who we are, craft beer is part of the tour!!! How many different types of tacos can you fit in your stomach?
WHAT TO EXPECT
We meet at a microbrewery in the heart of Tijuana's downtown district. There you will be greeted with a pint or a flight: your choice! Once every person is there, we get in our private vehicle and start eating our way through Tijuana! We have a separate taqueria for each style: adobada, birria, carne asada, a creative (unique) taco, and we end with seafood tacos. Each place is as local as it gets; even the last one, which is deemed a "high-end" establishment, is full of locals. You then have the choice to be dropped off at either a different brewery in the downtown district, or at the border to return to San Diego by foot. All details you will need to get cross into Mexico and get to the meeting point will be provided in your confirmation. The most important thing is: do not forget your passport!!
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Meet time at 12:30pm.

ABOUT OUR 6 PEOPLE SMALL GROUP POLICY
When you book a Hop 'N Vine Small Group Tour, you are guaranteed one tour guide per group of 6 people. However, please bear in mind that in order to accommodate traveling families and friends, on rare occasions we make the exception of adding an additional one or two guests in order not to split groups who are traveling together. On that same note, you may find yourself on tour with less than six people. As we accept bookings in multiples of six, math doesn’t always work in our favor to help accommodate individual travelers and their families when on the same tour, so we hope you understand and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
